HinT hydrolyzes lysyl-AMP, an activity that may be involved in the regulation of translation or the scavanging of aminoacyl-adenylates (Chou, 2006). hinT is essential for growth under high salt conditions (Chou, 2005). HinT is a member of the HIT (histidine triad) family that contains Ap3A and Ap4A hydrolases. HinT is a low abundance protein.
